NSTF Muzikafest was inaugurated in 1985. Its main objective was:
“to celebrate the United Nations International Youth Year by bringing together talented young musicians and singers over the joyous period of Easter”
Young people from various countries shared their musical and vocal talents over a ten-day Easter festival. Daily performances were held in different suggestive historical venues. Programmes included various genres of music, such as, medieval, classical, chamber, contemporary, choral, folk, jazz, et al. The success of this initiative gave rise to a series of five annual festivals between 1985 and 1989.
