The NSTF Mini European Assembly was launched in 1989. The main objective is:

“to complement the formal education process of post-secondary and tertiary level students through debate on relevant European institutional and current affairs and training in team-work, research, presentations, public speaking and mutual respect”

It is a simulation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe where students represent different European countries and discuss topics of European relevance through the political perspective of the European country they represent.

Participation:
  • Form a team of 5 students attending post-secondary and first year tertiary educational institutions in Malta and Gozo
  • Apply with NSTF during the month of October
  • NSTF will assign a coordinator to your team
  • Represent your assigned country during Committee Meetings and Plenary Sessions held between November and April of each year

Each Plenary session is chaired and addressed by a European personality and held at a different venue, including the House of Representatives, the Courts of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Mediterranean Conference Centre, and the Archbishop's Curia amongst others.

Prizes:

  • The first three placed teams participate in a Prize Tour to the major European Institutions in Brussels and Strasbourg organised by NSTF with the assistance of Air Malta
  • The most commendable students are nominated “Ambassadors of the NSTF Mini European Assembly” and are given the opportunity to participate in similar events overseas, namely the European Youth Parliament and the Model European Parliament
